The first appointment
Homeopathy is about finding the right remedy for you. This means discussing how you are in health as well as in sickness. Sometimes, questions may seem irrelevant to your presenting symptoms, but the answers help find the remedy best suited to your particular illness and how you experience it.
First appointments may last up to 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to describe your symptoms without feeling pressured in any way. You will be asked about your own medical history and your family history. Of course, everything is treated as confidential. There is plenty of opportunity for you, too, to ask questions and to voice any concerns.
At the end of the consultation, a prescription will be up made for you. Sometimes, this is done later and sent on to you. If this is the case, there is no extra charge for postage.
Follow up appointments
These are usually 4-6 weeks after your first appointment, and then 4-6 weeks apart, and may last up to 45 minutes. Again, there is no rush and ample opportunity to discuss how you have been, and how you feel your treatment is progressing.
Children’s appointments
Both first appointments and follow ups are often shorter than adult appointments. I keep a small selection of toys in the clinic and children are not expected to be on their best behaviour, but just to be themselves. Older children, in their teens, may be seen without the parent present, or with the parent coming in at the beginning or end of the session.
The remedies
Homeopathic medicines, known as remedies, are pleasant to take, and safe even during pregnancy and nursing. They are chosen according to each patient's specific symptoms and situation, and give the body the information it needs to begin the healing process.
In between appointments
If you are unwell in between appointments, then I like you to call me so that a further prescription may be posted to you and homeopathic treatment can continue uninterrupted by other medicines. If you are in the process of having regular treatment then there is no charge for this. If we have not seen each other for some time, then there is a charge for the telephone consultations and/or you may be advised to book an appointment.
