I graduated as a homeopath in 2004 from The College of Practical Homeopathy. There the emphasis is on learning to use homeopathy in a way that is particularly relevant to life today, so we are trained not only in classical homeopathy but also the other methodologies needed to tackle the types of illnesses, and their medications, that we see today. In 2009 I completed the Orion Advanced Homeopathic Course.
In addition to my practice, I am a marker for the college and I also supervise students there. I also offer classes for small groups who want to know more about how they can use remedies at home themselves and I have written articles for Close Up magazine.
In the years before training as a homeopath, I worked in advertising, publishing and fashion. I understand the strain that working life can bring - long hours, deadlines, competition, office politics, or maybe boredom and frustration. Now, married and a mother, I know that family life may not always be plain sailing either.
Homeopathy was first suggested to me when I was ill in my mid twenties. It was almost unheard of in this country and remedies certainly weren't available on the high street. The idea of homeopathy popped up several times over the years but I rejected it each time. Fear of the unknown is a powerful thing. But as time passed I became more open to new ideas. When my son was very young, the likelihood of daily, preventative medication for him became very real. At the same time, I was seeing my gp who diagnosed me as having 'a virus'. It had dragged on for six weeks and she had no suggestions for treatment. So, fairly desperate, I finally decided to see if homeopathy could help either of us. I'm pleased to say that, in both cases, it did. I made a full and speedy recovery, and my son never did need those drugs. And that was my first step, the beginning of my journey.
